Privacy Policy

This policy explains what data TV Remote・Universal collects, why we collect it, who we share it with, and how you can control it. We require no account, show no ads, and never sell your personal data.

1. Overview

TV Remote・Universal is a universal TV remote app developed by ViberzLab LLC. It lets you control smart TVs and streaming devices — including Samsung, LG (webOS), Android TV / Google TV, Roku, and other AirPlay- or DLNA-compatible devices — from your phone over your local Wi-Fi network. You do not need to create an account to use the app. This policy applies to the TV Remote・Universal iOS application and its associated services.

2. Data you provide directly

App feedback

If you submit feedback through the in-app rating flow, your rating and optional message are stored in our secure database (Supabase) along with your app version, operating system version, and device model. This data is used solely to improve the app and is not shared with third parties or advertisers.

3. Data collected automatically

Diagnostic logs

To find and fix bugs, the app sends anonymous diagnostic events to our secure database (Supabase). These logs may include a random session identifier, connection and control events (for example "connected", "pairing prompt", "command sent"), the TV brand being controlled, and your app version, OS version, and device model. Diagnostic logs do not contain your name, email, or any personally identifying information.

Usage analytics & session replay

To understand how the app is used and to improve it, we use PostHog (see "Third-party services" below). PostHog records anonymous product analytics — such as which screens you visit, which features you use, and connection or purchase events — and captures session replays (recordings of your in-app interactions and screens) associated with a random, app-generated identifier. This data is not tied to your name or email, is not used for advertising, does not use your device's advertising identifier (IDFA), and is never used to track you across other apps or websites.

Local network information

To discover and connect to your TV, the app reads information broadcast on your local network (such as device names and local IP addresses) using Apple's Bonjour service. This information is used only on your device to show you available TVs and to send remote commands. It is not uploaded to our servers.

4. Casting photos and videos

When you cast a photo or video, you select it from your device using Apple's system photo picker. The selected media is streamed directly from your phone to your TV over your local network (via AirPlay, DLNA, or the TV's media player). Your photos and videos are never uploaded to, or stored on, our servers.

5. Third-party services

We use a small number of third-party services to operate the app. Each is a data processor acting on our behalf.

PostHog (Product Analytics & Session Replay)

PostHog provides anonymous usage analytics and session replay so we can see how features perform and fix problems. It collects screen views, feature and connection events, session recordings of in-app activity, and technical information such as app version, OS version, and device model, associated with a random app-generated identifier. It does not collect your name or email, does not use the advertising identifier, and does not track you across other apps. See their Privacy Policy.

RevenueCat (Subscription Management)

RevenueCat manages in-app purchases and subscription state. It collects an anonymous app user ID and your purchase history via Apple. No personal contact information is shared with RevenueCat. See their Privacy Policy.

Supabase (Feedback & Diagnostics Storage)

Feedback and diagnostic logs are stored in Supabase and are accessible only to the TV Remote・Universal development team. See Supabase's Privacy Policy.

Apple (App Store & Payments)

All purchases and subscriptions are processed by Apple through the App Store. We never receive or store your payment card details. See Apple's Privacy Policy.

6. What we do not collect

  • No name, email address, or phone number
  • No account creation is required to use the app
  • No location data
  • No access to your camera, microphone, or contacts
  • No access to your photo library beyond the media you deliberately pick to cast
  • No advertising identifier (IDFA), no ads, and no cross-app tracking
  • We do not sell, rent, or trade your data with any third party

7. Data stored on your device

To reconnect to your TVs quickly, the app stores pairing keys and tokens for the TVs you connect to, along with your preferences and usage counters, locally on your device. This data does not leave your device. You can delete all locally stored data by removing the app, or by using "Forget this TV" in the app.

8. Data retention

Feedback submissions and diagnostic logs are retained in Supabase for as long as they are useful for improving the app, unless you request deletion. Media you cast is never retained on our servers.

9. Your rights

Depending on your country of residence, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete the limited data we hold. Since most data is stored locally on your device, deleting the app removes it. For feedback or diagnostic data held in Supabase, contact us and we will action your request.

10. Children

TV Remote・Universal is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

11. International data transfers

Our third-party providers (Supabase, RevenueCat, Apple) may process data outside your country of residence, including in the United States. Each provider implements appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) to protect your data in accordance with applicable law.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time as the app evolves. When we make significant changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
